John Lefkowits, Ph.D.

Dr. John Lefkowits received his doctorate in psychology from George Mason University in 1993 and was licensed as a psychologist that same year in Maryland. Dr. Lefkowits is the founder of Suburban Psychology, LLC, and works with individuals, couples and families. The focus of Dr. Lefkowits' practice is with separating and divorcing families. He also has experience with addictions, trauma, anxiety disorders and mood disorders

Dr. John Lefkowits is a licensed psychologist, divorce coach, parenting coordinator, mediator and custody evaluator. Dr. Lefkowits is on the board of the Howard County Collaborative Professionals and The Maryland Collaborative Practice Council. Dr. Lefkowits has active collaborative, parenting coordination and custody evaluation cases in both Montgomery and Howard Counties.

Dr. Lefkowits has penned two articled for The Maryland Psychologist on Collaborative Practice. He has been a regular speaker on topics related to psychological well being and divorce to professional groups, law schools and the general public. He has also been involved with more than twenty collaborative cases in both Montgomery and Howard County.

In addition, Dr. Lefkowits has experience coaching business executives in how to be more effective managers and leaders. He has worked with a wide range of executives in a number of industries, such as law, finance, energy, technology and health care. Dr. Lefkowits has also provided business mediation services to both privately held and public institutions.

Dr. Lefkowits has held clinical faculty appointments at the University of Maryland Medical School, George Washington University and Loyola College. He was also the sports psychologist for University of Maryland Sport Medicine.
